When You Look at Me…
When you look at me, the person you see is only part of me:
You might see a smile on my face, however not the sadness in my heart.
Or see a self-assured business woman, that’s actually aching to be home raising her kids.
Maybe you see a tall attractive woman, not the little girl inside feeling small and ugly,
Or see an overweight person, praying to God that she could feel accepted for who she is.
Sometimes you might see a healthy, vibrant woman, but not the cancer growing inside.
Or see a positive confident person, when she’s really full of confusion and pain.
Could that hard-working woman be working late because she’s afraid to go home?
Or the loud boisterous woman, trying to suppress secrets that are tearing her apart.
You might see the young flirtatious woman, who on the inside is only looking for someone to care.
Or maybe you see an old woman, wrinkled and broken,
instead of her active mind, loving heart, and soaring yet gentle spirit.
The next time you see me, look deeper; look into my heart, see the real me.
Get to really know me and give me a chance to get to know the real you.
“…The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance,
but the Lord looks at the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7
